How to Develop your Gift in Life

Posted in Personal Branding On Aug 20, 2018

The consequence of ignoring your gift is a life full of struggle and suffering. But society makes cowards of us all. A true manifestation of this is the man who broke out World War II, Adolf Hitler. In his autobiography, Hitler described how he was, in his youth, a painter. He produced tens of works and sold his paintings in order to earn a living from 1903-1913. He told the British ambassador in 1939,”I am an artist and not a politician.”

What turned this artist into a war criminal? He revealed also that he was ruined in his youth when he has failed the entrance exam of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. He was rejected twice by the institute, once in 1907 and again in 1908. How a refined artist turns out to be a leader of the Nazi Party in Germany and the real instigator of World War II?

The above tragedy of man’s downfall from being an artist to a war criminal is worth considering. The regression from being a Lotus flower to the mud. According to Ancient Egyptians , the beautiful Lotus flower emerges out of mud and dirt. It grows to 45 cm in height. Though, it is emerging out of this mud, it is not attached to it; it is no longer part of the mud; yet, it won’t be able to grow without this mud.

Our leaders that I talked about, and will be talking about in my blogs, are those who have transformed themselves. They grow out of the mud. Their early careers were filled with hardships and setbacks. By time they rise above this mud and became like the Lotus flower. They are flowering. Simply because they found out their gifts and refused to be swayed by the dictates of their society. They all stood in a stark contrast to Hitler.

The consequence of ignoring your gift and what nature has destined you to be is a life of frustration. This frustration manifests itself in forms such as anger, hatred, and greediness. Following your gift, on the other hand, and resisting the temptation to be anything other than yourself, is the road to fulfillment and flowering in life just like the Lotus flower.
