How Directing The Emotion Of Anger Is Empowering

Posted in Personal Branding On Feb 14, 2019

The unbridled passion of anger needs to be wisely directed rather being controlled. This seems counter-intuitive as we have been groomed up to bottle up our anger. Through blocking and consequently avoiding anger, it turns back on us. By turning this powerful emotion inwards we suffer compounding damages. Turning anger outwards helps us sooth ourselves and be in control of our life.

We are unconsciously ruled by our emotions that take precedence of driving our actions. How far we misuse this sweeping emotion of anger? Suppose someone humiliated me with harsh words. I ignored returning his insults because he is superior to me at work. Bottling up and ignoring my anger goes inwards. My mind stops the natural flow of this thwarted emotion of anger which seeks to be released outwards. This conflict creates psychological stress because of blocking this emotion. The result is physical problems that take the form of intestinal problems, insomnia, headaches and the like.

Through awareness of the power of anger, our life takes a different direction. The methodology is to be vigilant as soon as it appears. Simply watch patiently its rising. Like an astute jokey, ride this unbridled horse of passion and direct it outwards to achieve more in life. The physical problems in our previous example have been caused by stress. Being aware of the power of anger and how it is a hard-wired emotion that will destroy your health unless directed outwards, leads to an optimal route. That route allows the release of anger in the right time, at the right person in an efficient way. By setting your boundaries and reminding those who encroach them, your anger finds a perfect outlet.

The emotion of anger is a double-edged sword worth making the good use of. That was evident in the third movie of Rocky movie series. Rocky’s opponent, Clubber Lang, was unquestionably more capable than Rocky. Still, he has a serious flaw that caused his defeat. That is, his misguided anger and rage. Rocky uses the other edge of the sword; the edge of awareness coupled with timely and guided anger. Through such awareness and patience, he managed to release his anger at the right time and in the right way.

Directing your anger helps your well-being. Your thwarted desires trigger a combination of humiliation, anger and anxiety. This leads to an internal conflict that will be manifested through physical symptoms. When rightly directed, it empowers you to achieve miracles. Be aware when this emotion is triggered and release it wisely and powerfully.
